Sales Sequence Draft.

Introduction.

This is a project I completed for the Praxis program as part of the “sales” module. The goal for this assignment was to create a “Sales Sequence” draft.

A sales sequence is basically just a plan of attack for a cold outbound sales approach. This means creating a list of contacts and then reaching out to them by various channels trying to sell them something.

They call it “cold” because you’re reaching out to people who you don’t know and who have most likely never heard of your product.

My sequence consists of 9 total “touchpoints” (times when I reach out to the potential customer) over a 21 day period.

My target customers are super small businesses with 1-10 employees. I chose this target group because it is what I am most familiar with as the company I work for is in that category.

The product I am trying to sell in this mock sequence is a financial tracking, accounting, and invoicing software. It is supposedly designed with small businesses in mind and is supposed to be super simple and easy for new users to get started. That is why I thought it would be a good match for my target audience.

The following are my first attempts at cold outreach messages.

Sales Sequence Draft.

Day 1:

Facebook Message:

Hey, [ insert name].

I was curious, how does your company handle your invoicing and accounting needs?

Day 3:

View LinkedIn (If Applicable)

Day 4:

Email 1.

Hello, [insert name]

My name is Travis and I represent an accounting software company called Freshbooks.

I just had a quick question for you.

Does your company currently use any accounting/invoicing software?

If so, are there any issues or things that you may dislike about your experience with it?

If you wouldn’t mind taking a few moments out of your day to respond and let me know, I’d love to see if FreshBooks would be a good fit for your business!

Day: 8

Follow-up Email:

Hey, [insert name]

I know how busy you must be right now with an already tight schedule and the holidays quickly approaching.

Time is something we could all use a little more of. That is why so many people have begun using Freshbooks to take care of all their financial tracking and invoicing needs.

Not only does it save time and money but it is also incredibly intuitive and simple to use!

I know how frustrating complicated software can be and you have better things to do then learn how to use an unnecessarily intricate software system.

If finding a solution that is intuitive, effective, and built with small businesses in mind is something you would be interested in, please respond to this email and let me know!

I’d love to answer any questions you may have!

(P.S. We currently have a Black Friday sales event taking place. There has never been a better time to give FreshBooks a try!)

Day 12:

View Facebook for New Posts. (LinkedIn if Applicable)

Day 13:

(If Facebook Message went Unviewed)

SMS Text Message:

I got this number from your business

Facebook page.

I was just curious, how does your

company handle your accounting/invoicing needs?

Day 16:

Email 3.

Hey, [insert name]

Not everyone is an accountant or wants to be. For many small business owners such as yourself, tracking finances and invoices is one of their least favorite jobs and one of their biggest stress factors of their business.

If that sounds like a familiar tune, I’d love to see if Freshbooks could help alleviate some of that stress for you!

Freshbooks was designed with small businesses in mind and makes tracking expenses, income, and time a breeze.

Would you like to see if Freshbooks would be a good fit for you? Just shoot me an email! I’d be more than happy to tell you why Freshbooks is the best choice for a majority of small businesses as well as answer any questions you have!

Thank you for your time, I look forward to hearing from you!

Day 19: Phone Call

Day: 21

Final Email:

Hey, [insert name]

I don’t want to be a nuisance.

Below is a poll for where you’d like to go from here. I’d still think Freshbooks has the potential to truly save you a lot of time and potentially some gray hairs! However, if you feel like Freshbooks isn’t the right move for your business right now, I completely understand!

Are you interested in learning more about how Freshbooks could help your business?

  • I might be, but I’d like more details, please.
  • No, we already have a solution.
  • Yes, let’s schedule a call!
